Quality Engineer

A leading manufacturer of fiber optics is currently seeking a Quality Process Engineer to develop, modify, apply and maintain quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product at their facility in the Canton, NY, area. Assignment length is 1 year with the possibility of extension. Local candidates only, no per diem available. This position is considered exempt per FLSA guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment
- Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment
- Conduct quality assurance tests
- Perform statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications
- Follow a Six Sigma approach to data analysis
- Track Quality department metrics such as (but not limited to) CpK, PpK, SOS Compliance, etc

REQUIREMENTS

- BS Degree
- 2+ years of manufacturing process engineering or statistical process experience
- Technical writing skills to write, edit, audit, and maintain process documentation or technical reports as needed
- Ability to perform Statistical Data Analysis
- Kepner Tregoe problem solving techniques desired
- Lean experience
