Purchasing Officer/Expeditor

My client a leading provider of defence and security products and services in Australia is looking for a Purchasing Officer/Expeditor to join their team on an initial 3 month contract basis with possibility of extension.

The PURCHASING OFFICER is dedicated to:

- Guaranteeing product supply to customer, in conformity with contractual commitments
- Executing services and support purchasing and supply chain operations as part of service agreements
- Contributing to purchasing optimisation
- Negotiating contracts with suppliers
- Seeking improvements, promoting standardisation and sourcing alternative solutions to secure the activity and shorten ordering cycles
- Satisfying the procurement and supply requirements for the Services & Support group
- Effectively expediting supplies to ensure delivery dates to customer are met
- Monitoring order action reports to ensure all required supplies are ordered from vendors
- Analysing and reporting supplier performance on time and price variance
- Analysing and reporting key Suppliers performance regarding on time, on conformity delivery and continuous Purchase Cost reduction

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Trade or Certificate qualifications in Business, Logistics or Supply Chain discipline, AQF Certificate IV or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years experience in technical or Supply Chain operations, or equivalent technical qualification
- At least five years' experience enabling a limited degree of autonomy
- Practical knowledge of MRP II planning systems
- Sound knowledge of: Supply chain business principles and procedures and supplier management
- A high level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
- Very good knowledge and experience of standard computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Knowledge of OH&S requirements within the workplace
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Effective negotiation and influencing skills to ensure cost effective and reliable delivery performance
- Technical maintenance knowledge
- Understanding of Defence user community and associated operational environment, policies & procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge of MILIS & MMM record keeping
- Demonstrated knowledge of Defence repair and support processes and practices
