Purchasing Assistant

PURCHASING ASSISTANT - CONTRACT - HERTFORDSHIRE

Our client, a leading global Aerospace and Defence Engineering and Manufacturing company require a Purchasing Assistant to undertake an initial temporary assignment based in Herts.

The role involves buying materials and fixings required for manufacture of composites products for aerospace and defence customers.

The role is a temporary assignment until 24th December 2014.

YOU WILL BE TASKED WITH:

- Requesting quotes - price and delivery, from pre-defined single source suppliers.
- Requesting quotes and "negotiating" price and delivery where more than one supplier can provide the product or service.
- Raising purchase orders on ERP system.
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems for purchasing items.
- Expediting ie chasing-up suppliers for confirmation of orders and on-time deliveries.
- Experience in the Aerospace industry would be highly desirable but not essential.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

- Demonstrable experience of providing administrative support to Buyers purchasing materials and fixings within manufacturing companies.
- Familiarity with MRP or ERP systems.
- Ability to negotiate on price, delivery and expedite as required.
- Desirable skills/experience
- Demonstrable experience of buying/purchasing within aerospace companies.
- Candidates will need to undergo BPSS (Baseline) & Disclosure Scotland Security Vetting before being able to commence the contract.
