Project/Systems Engineer

Role Description
A Project or System Engineer with a mechanical engineering background is required to provide fit for purpose engineering solutions for Asset Care projects or engineering support on more complex Asset Care projects. The Asset Care team delivers environmental and safety compliance and support to site decommissioning activities through maintenance of site infrastructure. Functionally reporting to System Engineering but Embedded within the Asset Project work, the Project Engineer will manage a number of engineering related packages of work to support Asset Management and Site Infrastructure improvements at Trawsfynydd. This is an attractive role offering a varied workload and provides an opportunity to work upon all areas of a nuclear licensed site. Examples of past and present Asset Care projects are Reactor Pressure Vessel Inspections which included manufacture of manipulators and remote operated vehicles, installation of temporary site accommodation, LV and HV electrical testing and maintenance and sewage plant refurbishment including pump replacement.

Key duties and responsibilities
Provides engineering and management support to maintain long-term nuclear and conventional safety, performance, reliability and compliance. Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned Asset Care project work. Provide fit for purpose engineering solutions for Asset Care projects. Produce and/or approve project technical specifications. Prepare modification proposals as required, acting as a Nominated Responsible Engineer where appointed. Provide technical supervision of work activities to ensure compliance with design intent. Liaise and consult with system engineers and other stakeholders throughout project life cycle to ensure efficient and effective project delivery. Support the Asset Care Project Lead in delivery and prioritisation of work, including contractor management. As a customer-focused individual, the post holder will be expected to support delivery within his or her range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence.

Essential Experience/Qualifications
HNC or Engineering Degree, National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 5/6. Experience in a practising Mechanical Engineering role on industrial plant. Experience of nuclear and/or conventional project or system engineering. Understanding of relevant Company and/or national engineering standards.

Essential Experience/Qualifications
Working towards chartered engineer status. Conversant with working in regulated environments.
