Project Manager, Windows 7 Conversion

Position will function as a Project Manager working with our client in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With minimal coaching, duties will include:

- Lead Windows 7 conversion project and/or other projects as well as coordinate activities and resources throughout the project life cycle (initiation, planning, executing/controlling, and closing).
- Understand project goals and ensure that the project is on track to deliver these goals.
- Manage the scope, schedule, budget, and plan for the projects throughout the life cycle.
- Develops and revises complex project plans and budgets, works with users to understand complex problems and focuses on bringing issues to resolution, escalating as necessary to meet timelines.
- Performs project risk analysis and actively manage all significant issues/risks, ensure resources are identified to provide solutions, and escalate as necessary to avoid project delays.
- Hold project sponsor/owner and project resources, internal and external, accountable to the agreed plan and for timely decision making & prioritization
- Communicate project status and progress to appropriate stakeholders including the Project Management team and other stakeholders across the county depending on the impact of the program.
- Create and maintain key project management documents in compliance with internal standards & best practices, including:  Risks & Issues Logs, Status Reports, Project Plans, Change Control Log, Action Plans, Decision Logs, etc.
- Oversee budget and financial tracking for the project(s), working within overall program management processes
- Develops and revises communication needs and overall communication plan for project.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Provide project support as needed (including but not limited to arranging/coordinating meeting logistics, preparing and distributing agendas, facilitating meetings, capturing notes, identifying action items, publishing meeting minutes, researching issues, other general administrative and planning tasks.
- May manage engagements with outside 3rd party service providers/vendors
- Maintains and communicates accurate status of work performed. 
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the team's service by offering suggestions or direction as a member of the project team.
- May be required to drive a personal motor vehicle in the course of the work. 
- Ability to travel to different client sites, in Nevada locations to obtain project information. 

Special Skills:

- 7+ years of responsibility for project management and related experience in technology
- Budget experience
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision supporting multiple projects in an atmosphere of shifting priorities and deadline pressure while taking the initiative to identify problems/dependencies and recommend solutions.
- Experience and knowledge with project management frameworks
- Proven experience with technology project initiatives such as desktop or OS conversion initiatives preferred
- Ability to project manage work efforts related to domain areas such as:  Application Engineering, Operating System Builds and Images, Hardware, Infrastructure, Security Tools, Service Management Engineering, Release Management, Testing lab/environments, Architecture Governance, Security, Governance, and/or Testing/Quality Assurance, Inventory Management
- Proven leadership, relationship building, and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders and project teams, including senior management.
- Previous experience working with cross-functional teams
- Solid understanding of intersection between technical operations, engineering and project/delivery management
- Strong experience with core Microsoft tools (eg, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint)
- Experience building and leading high performance teams comprised of employees and consultants from multiple vendors
- Creative, common-sense approach to problem solving
- Proven decision-making capabilities and sound judgment, objectively evaluating pros, cons, trade-offs and alternatives among options
- Ability to hold self and others accountable
- Capable of multi-tasking in an ambiguous and changing environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- Project and/or Program Management certification (eg PMI) strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience as lead Project Manager managing a Windows 7 conversion for an enterprise with over 6,000 users
- Experience as a lead Project Manager managing a Windows 7 conversion for an enterprise that uses a significant number of internally-developed applications.
- Expert knowledge of both the software development life cycle and the project life cycle.
- Strong ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously.
