JOB TITLE: PROJECT MANAGER (RENEWABLE ENERGY)

SALARY: CIRCA £36,000 PA

LOCATION: BURY ST EDMUNDS, GB *

CONTRACT: FULL TIME, FIXED TERM CONTRACT (24 MONTHS)

JOB REF: IRC25744

Supporting our ambitious plan to generate more of our energy from renewable sources, you'll work to a Project Management Framework as you deliver our renewable projects in the East of England.

*PLEASE NOTE WE ARE RECRUITING A FURTHER 4 OTHER ROLES TO COVER NORTHERN IRELAND, NORTH OF ENGLAND, WALES AND LONDON AND SOUTH EAST. IF YOU WISH TO APPLY FOR THESE LOCATIONS PLEASE STATE IN YOUR APPLICATION.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

We want the special places in our care to be enjoyed centuries from now. That's our vision. And to be sustainable for the future, we need to ensure we're making the most efficient use of natural resources, water and energy right now. We've put in place an ambitious plan to reduce our energy bill by £4million per annum by 2020 by delivering 50% of our energy from renewable sources. As part of that, we're introducing dozens of renewable energy installations across the places we look after, which is where you come in.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Focusing on our renewable energy projects in the East of England you'll manage our programme of projects here, providing leadership and guidance to a range of internal and external stakeholders. Working within the National Trust's Project Management Framework, you'll lead and deliver individual projects making sure everyone involved is motivated, well informed and that proper provision is in place in order to deliver successfully on time and to budget. We'd also like you to work in collaboration, where necessary, with our other Renewable Project Managers based in other regions/countries, and build an excellent working relationship with our Lead Consultant on these projects. The systems you put in place will help shape similar future projects, so this is an excellent opportunity to have a real impact on the future of renewable energy at the National Trust.

ABOUT YOU

Along with relevant professional project management accreditations, it's essential that you have project management experience in a renewable energy context, ideally delivering heat-based projects, such as biomass and heat pumps. You'll be as passionate as we are about delivering effective projects that are in tune with the beautiful environments they are located in, having an appreciation for the local ecology and culture. As an expert project manager, you know everything there is to know about project management lifecycles and processes and you've got what it takes to see your bright ideas rolled-out on time. You'll have great procurement knowledge (e.g. NEC contracts) and be able to deliver innovative solutions to problems. Working with rangers and property teams you'll be able to draw on their strengths to find economies, and negotiate and source best value to bring projects under budget. Working in designated landscapes and dealing with public/communities will also be a strength. We'll also need you to show us where you've had sole budget responsibility (£250,000 plus per project). Engaging and enthusiastic, you're an exceptional communicator with excellent influencing skills and the ability to work with colleagues and external suppliers and contractors at all levels. Collaboration is at the heart of this role, so you'll be an excellent coach and a brilliant leader, inspiring across the board as you achieve targets and deliver the results we're looking for.
