We're looking for a PROJECT MANAGER with 5-7 years' experience for a premium contract position with one of the biggest financial companies in the world. Must have some IT experience and background in SharePoint to qualify. This candidate will join the Project Management Office (PMO) supporting the Portal and Identity and Access Management Programs. The Portal program develops core capabilities, such as Search, Content Management, and Document Management, to support the client's web based applications. The IAM program develops security solutions to manage resource access to services and Servers.

This Project Manager will manage small to mid-sized projects and support the PMO to execute larger projects. In addition the candidate will coordinate PMO planning, tracking project financials and maintaining project documentation. This position requires interpersonal skills to coordinate across matrixed teams comprised of systems analysts, vendors, development, QA, operations and business personnel. Project Management experience with configuring, customizing, and deploying third party tools in the security or Portal domain is highly desired.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, project management, or related field required
- 5-7 years' experience required
- PMP certification preferred but not required; candidate would be expected to work toward PMP if not currently held
- 4+ years of experience using SharePoint
- Proficiency in administering and using SharePoint collaboration sites
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods
- High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools (specifically but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
- Solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, yet seamlessly integrate activities with other teams members when needed
- Solid analytical skills and ability to think strategically
- Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, assignments, and roles
- Independent judgment and mature decision making skills

MAJOR JOB DUTIES:

- Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity
- Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems
- Maintain project/program level project reporting, metrics, and watch lists
- Maintain reporting of roll up project and resource budgets, and resource plans.
- Draft management project briefings and coordinate periodic reviews maintaining PM level document repositories
- Assist with oversight of program performance and ensuring compliance with IT methods
- Maintain organizational process documentation and seek opportunities for process improvement
- Demonstrate and leverage strong business and financial acumen
- Partner and collaborate with cross-organizational functions to deliver on objectives
- Manage through influence, but without direct management authority
- Use abilities to influence customers and stakeholders, and properly manage divergent expectations
- Exercises independent judgment with direction from supervisor
