Project Manager - IS Infrastructure - Utilities

Project Manager required for an initial 6 month contract with a utilities client in Coventry. The client has recently opened a new flagship head office and they are now looking to upgrade the other client sites to ensure the IS infrastructure aligns between all sites.

Objective:

Project management through the entire project lifecycle, from identification of need to system/service handover in to BAU support, including :

* Facilitate project planning and control the delivery, implementation and budget for one or more projects (typically between 1 and 3) Control includes the management of project risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies and the co-ordination of project workstreams, e.g., infrastructure delivery.
* Control the day-to-day activities required to deliver these projects to negotiated TCQ criteria by maintaining a Project and Stage plan and using a Product Backlog and Burndown charts, to demonstrate project output and progress.
* Follow relevant financial, governance, resourcing and reporting processes. The job holder should ensure that their projects comply with applicable 'Project Essentials' (as agreed with the Senior Project Manager) in order to achieve proportionate governance. The job holder also should produce regular Project Status Reports and progress updates so that the department has an overview of the portfolio of projects versus their negotiated TCQ criteria.

Accountabilities:

* Coordinating appropriate work estimates for end to end technical work, to be delivered for budgeting purposes
* Working with technical teams to develop appropriately detailed technical work packages for delivery
* Planning in detail, and day-to-day monitoring of progress for technical projects in conjunction with business focused project / programme managers and technical team leaders, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
* Responsible for the delivery of projects to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the work estimates provided
* Managing multiple in-house and third party contributions to the project as appropriate.
* Ensuring inter-project dependencies and priorities are being managed effectively.
* Responsibility for the delivery of technical projects successfully into live support.
* Delivering projects compliant with IS Project Management policy and other related policies, based on the Prince II methodology
* Reporting progress of the project at regular intervals agreed by the receiving project / programme manager.
* Liaison with Property Services and Internal customers in order to indentify and / or confirm business requirements.

Requirements:

In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have:

* Strong experience in managing the delivery of site based IS accommodation technology.
* WAN Connectivity (BT MPLS)
* LAN connectivity (switches, networked printers and structured cabling)
* Comms room infrastructure (Power, UPS, racking, CRAC, servers)
* IP Telephony (Avaya) o Meeting room IS facilities (smartboards, LCD screens, Video Conference)
* Desk based infrastructure (thin client, remote desktop)
* Management of third party suppliers
* High level of knowledge and proven delivery of industry leading project management standards and methods (e.g. PRINCE2).
* Strong financial control and budgetary management experience relating to project delivery
* Experience of Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity planning and solutions beneficial Expert in the use of MS Project, proficient with MS Office
