PROJECT MANAGER

An opportunity exists for a Project Manager to join an established product development team and to take part in delivering Products and Engineering services for multiple clients.

JOB PURPOSE

To deliver robust products and services which meet the needs of our clients, by selecting/acquiring/developing/integrating the necessary technologies to deliver products which meet quality cost and delivery targets of the client, and satisfy internal company financial targets.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develop and deliver modules or products and services using structured development processes, utilising robust design techniques.

Take ownership of the project from initial client contact, Statement of work development and agreement, to delivery against the agreed contract.

Generate plans, track and report progress to Senior Management and Clients in regular review forums

Estimate and plan resource requirements, form and lead project delivery team, and interface with relevant functions, such as: Supply chain, Manufacturing Engineering, 3rd party manufacturing companies, Product cost estimating, Product Planning, Marketing, Finance, Field Service, Global Purchasing.

Coordinate and give technical direction to teams that may be distributed around the Globe.

Set direction, evaluate options, and select options to deliver optimum quality, cost and delivery balance

Ensures projects meets milestones and metrics required for phase exits

BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE AND ACHIEVEMENTS

10+ years experience in product development in a Design, Systems,  or development engineering role, with more recent experience in managing teams and project management/control (upto 15 people & $1m development budget)

Familiar with:  competitive product benchmarking, Technology selection methods, Critical parameter identification and optimisation, design for reliability techniques, FMEA. Design and development for medium to high volume manufacturing, new product introduction.

Degree qualified, or HNC/HND + relevant experience, preferably a Chartered Engineer, Systems thinker, with an appreciation of Systems Engineering, manufacturing, Electrical, and Software development, can take an overall product view rather than competency based.

Experience with Resource estimation, management, with some people development experience.

Finance and budgetary awareness

Understanding of how the product cost is generated and tracked

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Can communicate clearly and concisely to own team, client and Senior management.

Structured in their thinking with ability to see the big picture and where focus is required to keep the project on track.

Has sufficient technical presence to win the confidence of their team and Senior Management

Strong personal drive. Focussed on goals with an ability to motivate and drive the team.

Willingness to travel to India, USA, Far East when required (no more than 2-3 weeks per quarter)
