Project Engineer - Manufacturing Systems Integration

Our client, a leading British Aerospace company is looking for a Project Engineer - Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer for a 12 month contract to be based in Derby.

As a Project Engineer - Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the development and deployment of the Manufacturing and Plant Intelligence (MI/PI) solutions for two new Turbines facilities. This is a key part of the strategy to develop these Turbine production sites as world class manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Integrating new machinery, processes and manufacturing systems with a focus on process improvement and productivity optimisation.
- Supporting the development and deployment of the Manufacturing and Plant Intelligence (MI/PI) solutions in a project management/liaison based role.
- Testing of Manufacturing Systems and integration of Machine tools into SIMATIC IT, the new MES (Manufacturing Execution System) currently being implemented.
- Liaison with the SME's (Subject Matter Experts) to help trouble shoot potential problems.

Required Skills:

- Previous experience of Machine tool integration and/or MI and PI systems development.
- Understanding of OEM's (Original Equipment Machinery), Machine tool integration and ideally programs for obtaining inspection data such as Measure link & INSPECT.
- General project skills as this is a Project Engineering/Liaison focused opportunity, organising the project, arranging meetings with the SME's and engineering troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will come from an Aerospace or Automotive Project/Manufacturing engineering background and would have a good understanding of manufacturing systems, production processes and Manufacturing Systems/Machine tool integration into a larger MES.

This project is currently in the Testing and Development stages of the project and therefore any experience of testing of manufacturing systems would be invaluable.
