Project Engineer - Controls Unit/Systems

Our client, a leading British Aerospace and Defence company is looking for a Project Engineer - Control Unit Systems Engineer for a 12 month contract to be based in Derby.

As a Control Unit Systems Engineer you will be working on the latest gas turbine engine programmes or development and testing of existing engines with a focus on product refinement, reduce cost, addressing service problems and optimisation of engine controls.

Key Responsibilities for the Control Unit Systems Engineer:

- Compilation of technical requirements for the latest Gas Turbine Control Systems.
- Capture requirements in DOORS or other tools mandated by the project.
- Review and propose agreement of the supplier's DDP (Declaration of Design and Performance.
- Generation and approval of the Standardisation Report (C-Sheet), to allow for the new unit to be used in service.
- Ensure suitable unit level testing/analysis and compliance with all aspects of Rolls-Royce standards.

Required Skills for the Control Unit Systems Engineer:

- Experience of requirements capture for Aerospace electro-mechanical control systems.
- Solve technical problems by creating a detailed plan of work to solve them.
- Experience of unit level testing/analysis and validate of unit design.
- Provide acquired project specific control system knowledge.
- Experience of unit Qualification (eg QTP, QTR, DDPs) would also be useful.
- Mechanical/Aerospace Degree - HND or equivalent minimum in an Engineering discipline.

The ideal candidate will come from an Aerospace background with an understanding of control Unit system hardware including sensors, actuators, motors and valves. Strong project skills as well as experience of supplier management and gas turbine development would also be advantageous.
