My client, a leading automotive manufacturer, based in Warwickshire, are looking to recruit a Project Engineer to join their Chassis Engineering division on a long-term contract basis.

Position Description:
This is a role for an experienced automotive engineer with a bias towards software development who has a practical and dynamic working style. The individual will need to be enthusiastic and energetic and will have a strong Can Do approach.
Reporting to the Group Leader Modulation, the Project Engineer will work under the guidance of the platform Lead Engineer to deliver Stability Control System hardware and software for products. In this role the successful candidate will be expected to support a cross functional team via regular Module Business Team meetings. The Project Engineer will be capable of coordinating the design and delivery of SCS hardware and software capable of meeting class leading attribute targets and Best In Class quality whilst adhering to cost, weight, and programme timing targets.

Skills Required:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong organisational skills and will be enthusiastic for task, highly motivated and largely self-sufficient.
Good communication and presentation skills will be required to report out regularly to Programme, Brakes Management and the supply base.
Ability to develop strong working relationships within the Module Business team.
Knowledge of complex automotive electromechanical systems.
Knowledge of basic quality engineering tools including FMEA and Lessons Learned.
Competent user of MS Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).
UK Driving Licence for Cat B vehicles.

Skills Preferred:
Awareness of PCS (or GPDS) timeline and deliverables.
Awareness of the WERS process desirable, but full training will be offered.
Knowledge of Braking or Chassis Hydraulic systems would be advantageous.
Understanding of software development and delivery.

Experience Required:
Post graduate experience in an automotive engineering environment.

Experience Preferred:
Knowledge of the gateway deliverables critical to the SCS System.
Knowledge of the Stability Controls application/development process for system sign off.
The successful candidate is likely to have been operating as an established Module Business Team leader (PMST) or Module Leader in a mechanical or electrical function for 3 or more years.
Typically this would be at D (or FL5) Grade in Product Development.
An awareness of the application of CAE techniques to chassis engineering.

Education Required:
Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or an appropriate Electrical Engineering discipline (2:1 or above)

Additional Information:
The role is based at Gaydon but will involve travel to suppliers and manufacturing sites mostly within the UK.
