Position Description:

Engineer Safety Component systems

Key responsibilities:

*Interfacing with key attribute teams to support the delivery of all vehicle attribute requirements, especially the vehicle safety attribute on new product developments
*The design, development, test and integration of safety components and the management of the interfacing sub-systems to achieve a ''Concept Ready" status
*Creation of feasible solutions, definition of BOM's, costs and weights to support delivery of programme targets
*Management of the design responsible supplier and interfacing teams to deliver solutions to agreed TCDS milestones, ensuring delivery of virtual models, virtual tests, and physical assessments
*Keeping all project and TCDS documentation up to date, through to sign off
*Use of quality systems to create new product or update current foundation FMEA's
*Definition of and authoring of any new required standards
*Create new or manage updates to current '' Bills of Design''
*Managing all the key stakeholders associated with safety component development (eg Suppliers, Purchasing, Vehicle Engineering, Quality, Design, Optical & Perceived Quality, Finance, Manufacturing, Service, Logistics, etc)"

Experience Required:

*The candidate must have proven experience of project management within a technical environment, ideally encompassing the management of suppliers or other external organisations
*The candidate must have proven experience of project management within a technical environment, ideally encompassing the management of suppliers or other external organisations
*The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a logical and methodical approach to component applications, verification/validation and problem solving
*A good understanding of the Design FMEA process and Design Verification of components and systems.

Education Required:

*Skills in Microsoft Excel/Powerpoint/Word are necessary
*The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with strong organisational, presentation and numerical skills
*A proven track record of delivering automotive engineering projects within budget and time constraints and against tough engineering and quality targets
*Applicants should be educated to Degree level or equivalent in a technical/engineering discipline

Education Preferred:

*Previous experience in Automotive Body Engineering/Safety Components, Restraint Electronics or a Vehicle Safety environment is desirable
*Working knowledge of safety component development including airbag or seat belt dynamic performance and manufacturing processes would be highly beneficial
*Knowledge of vehicle level safety requirements is desirable
*Experience of safety component dynamic film analysis and associated data interpretation is preferred
*An understanding of safety components Engineering Standards and Test Procedures would be beneficial
*Preferred technical experience within the automotive industry and specifically of automotive safety systems or of key interfacing areas (eg cabin trim or seating)
