Project EHS Engineer

Roc Search's client is currently recruiting for a Project EHS Engineer

The Project EHS (Environment Health & Safety) engineer is responsible for ensuring that a project is managed in accordance with the organisations EHS Management Systems and the subsequent Project EHS Plan, and other project specific EHS documentation developed in response to the requirements of the contract.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

* Review and evaluate Contractor EHS project contractual requirements prior to kick-off and follow-up the same throughout the life of the contract.
* Advise Project Manager (PM) of proposed changes to EHS documentation deliverables per organisations agreement. Ensure any Change Proposals are suitably completed to PM's satisfaction
* Liaise with Project Manager (PM) and Project/System Engineer (SE) to develop scope specific Risk Register (RR) to agree parameters and Matrix to be used. Liaise with PM and establish project risk register
* Review and adopt as appropriate Lessons Learned (LL) from previous projects. Develop emergency and contingency plans in consultation with Contractor.
* Participate in kick-off meeting(s) identifying reporting and measurement KPI's. Participate in critical Subcontractor evaluations to assist or advise PM on selection, concerns and corrective measures.
* Ensure critical subcontractor EHS documentation is made available and meets regulatory, project and company requirements prior to start of work activities.
* Ensure EHS activity plan and KPIs are implemented as agreed with Contractor. This will include leading indicator activities such as audit, inspection, behaviour observation, toolbox talks, emergency drills etc.
* Report to EHS Manager on project performance on a weekly and monthly basis.
* Participate in accident investigation and analysis of project related EHS events. Advise project team of relevant EHS legislative/regulatory/company/industry requirements and changes.
* Monitor and periodically verify critical subcontractor activities as part of the EHS activity plan during the execution of work.
* Support Safe Operability (SAFOP) studies and Hazard Identification (HAZID)
* Ensure 3rd party EHS documentation is adequate and sufficient to meet organisations requirements
* Support and review the generation of project specific EHS documentation.
* Review relevant Job Safety Analyses related to the work.
* Promote & monitor implementation of EHS on Project, in accordance with EHS plan, procedures and work instructions and stop any work activities that contravenes these procedures & practices.
* Provide specialist EHS advice and assistance to the GE Project Management Team.
Knowledge and Experience
* Relevant experience in EHS role - preferable 5 years from Oil & Gas, Construction or related industry
* Knowledge to Norwegian EHS laws and regulations, and relevant standards like ISO-14001 and OSHAS 18001.
* Good communication and inter-personal relation, and good customer relation.
* Proven capability of working in a Matrix environment and in team.
* Willing to work at a detail level.
* Self-motivated and energetic individual, able to work on own initiative
* Knowledge of the Oil & Gas sector

Special Skills and Proficiency:

* Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years from Oil & Gas, Construction or related industry
* Primary Language: English and 1 of Swedish, Norwegian, Danish etc.
