PROGRAMMER/WEB DEVELOPER (LIBRARY FUTURES PROJECT)

TEMPORARY CONTRACT UNTIL 31 DEC 2014

We are seeking a Programmer/web developer to support the Library Futures project, which is an exciting new initiative in Library Services.

You will be responsible for developing user interfaces for library discovery systems and providing development support for other Library Services' systems, services and products. 

You will have experience of working with PHP, undertaking database design and support in MySQL and developing using, amongst others, Bash, Perl, Java, JavaScript or JSON.  Also needed is demonstrable experience of working within UNIX/Linux server environments, integrating APIs and working with XML metadata, ideally within a library context.  You will be experienced in undertaking iterative development and rapid-prototyping.

You will need to work effectively as part of a team as well as working independently, and be motivated and organised. You will be practised in communicating with technical and non-technical staff and able to liaise with end-users and understand their needs.
