Program Coordinator

A seasoned project management professional committed to delivering programs on-time and within budget by improving the effectiveness of project teams through the application of professionally accepted program and project management methods, techniques, and tools. Candidate may support 5-10 medium to large or many more small projects.

JOB DUTIES:
The incumbent typically significant prior project management experience and will require minimal supervision for all duties. He/she supports projects that have significant value and may be very complex in nature. This is a staff position that requires an excellent understanding of program and project management tools & processes. The incumbent will provide facilitation for project teams, leading control meetings and chartering/planning sessions for medium to large projects. Incumbent may mentor more junior coordinators in the project management software tool, running control meeting, and with chartering/planning sessions. Maintains and improves processes for generating customer deliverables, which may involve significant post-processing and deep expertise in other software tools for portfolio resource management and/or program cost forecasting and tracking. Maintains accurate project schedules with little to no follow-up from the Program Management Supervisor. The incumbent captures project information, analyzes data from schedule updates (eg critical path), works with project team members to resolve logic errors, helps explain changes due to updates, and updates plan according to actions taken by the project team to resolve schedule problems. Creates report packages and communicates project status. Makes recommendations to the project team to resolve schedule and project cost issues.

SKILLS:

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a four year college or university degree. Five to ten years of job-related experience in program management. Exposure to engineering, or product development, or purchasing, or IT desired. Must have very strong interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills, strong meeting facilitation skills, and the ability to influence others without having authority. Must possess extensive knowledge of project management software (Primavera or MS Project), MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and Web Publishing tools. May also require knowledge of other software tools such as project accounting systems.
