Professional Media Specialist

Act as the primary media spokesperson for a New Hampshire based project. Responsibilities will include writing press materials, conducting research and communicating proactively and reactively with members of the media exclusively for the Project.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- researching issues for the development of press releases, fact sheets, position papers and web-based materials;
- assuming primary spokesperson responsibilities on a variety of issues as assigned;
- proactively providing project story ideas to editors, reporters and writers;
- serving as a public speaker and presenter at NP public events such as meetings of business organizations or other groups interested in the project.

SKILLS:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

- A Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or an equivalent degree, and a minimum of five years' experience in Media Relations or related field is required.
- A working knowledge of New Hampshire and New England regional media is required, and experience as a media spokesperson is strongly preferred.
- A working knowledge of the electric utility industry in general - including current issues, such as regional energy supply, rates, deregulation, and power generation, is desired.

Additional experience requirements include:

A proven record of writing and editing; a user proficiency in MS Windows Office software and technology; a working knowledge and understanding of the social media environment, and the ability to effectively utilize its various components, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr; highly effective written and oral communications skills; a demonstrated ability to plan and manage multiple projects at one time under challenging deadlines; the ability to anticipate problems and provide and implement timely and appropriate solutions; strong teamwork skills; and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization and outside vendors.
