MOTORSPORT SPECIALIST HERNDON, VA 10 MONTH CONTRACT

The Motorsport Specialist will serve as primary liaison between the customer racing technical support center in the US and all technical development and negotiation for balance of performance. Additionally this role will serve as the first contact for all customers seeking to purchase race cars through the client to compete in any US racing series. Lastly, this role will serve as the primary contact for all technical matters with each racing series sanctioning body.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

- Negotiate with sanctioning organizations on balance of performance issues, class rules and racecar specifications.
- Interface directly with clients to develop shared programs.
- Manage day-to-day interface with Technical Center staff to ensure the program is responsive to customers and series alike, as well as efficient with financial resources.
- Create and maintain database for current customers and potential teams.
- Create, maintain and deliver bi-weekly sales report for all incoming inquiries for racecars in the US.
- Hold a weekly status call with the customer racing team collectively with partners. Responsible for distributing agenda prior to each call as well as meeting minutes post each call.
- Maintain meticulous records of all technical specifications, balance of performance paperwork, sales quotes and contracts, etc.
- Create, maintain and update online parts sales system in conjunction with Technical Center personnel and aftersales department.
- Oversee parts sales and distribution system in conjunction with Technical Center personnel. Ensure proper reporting is maintained and billings are up to date.
- Manage day-to-day administration of customer racing program and program budget.
- Hold a weekly status call with customer racing program manager.
- Prepare and update various presentations (PowerPoint skills required) for management and marketing.
- Attend marketing and technical meetings with race series organizations.
- Liaise with PR department for all relevant press releases and publicity.
- Create, maintain and update operational contact sheets to include customer racing organization, product organization, all personnel provided to race teams (ie drivers, mechanics, and engineers), sports marketing, communications organizations, etc.
- Prepare administrative paperwork for purchasing and finance when necessary to process bids and/or invoicing as it relates to parts billing, Technical Center billing and other miscellaneous billing.
- Prepare all sales quotes and contracts for new team purchases. Route for signatures when necessary.

WORK FLEXIBILITY

70% TRAVEL, WILL REQUIRE WEEKENDS this position will be required to attend all races that team participates in either directly or indirectly via the customer. Some international travel may be necessary for additional training or meeting with counterparts. Travel may also be required to the customer racing technical support center in Indiana.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelors Degree or equivalent required; Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Technical knowledge and expertise in US motorsports
- Expertise in technical specs of racecar production and engineering
- Extensive knowledge of the United Sports Car Racing series, US-based racing series

PREFERRED SKILLS

- Mechanical engineering
- Existing relationships with current race teams and sanctioning bodies for respective US race series
