THE COMPANY

My client is one of the premier financial institutions in the world and a global leader in providing innovative solutions with a large range of financial offerings to both public and private clients across Investment Management, Securities and Banking. They have a very large technical footprint that combines a dynamic range of technologies in an ultimately complex landscape and are looking for a Production/Application Support Engineer with technical expertise specifically across Nagios, Linux, Java and SQL.

THE TEAM

The broader scope of the Production Support Engineer within this environment is to provide support and contribute to project initiatives relating to a suite of Vender and in-house developed production systems across Funds Management and Custody (eg HiPortfolio, Composer). This particular role however will have a more specific focus requiring you to work closely with local and US based counterparts to evolve an existing piece of technology utilizing your expertise across the Linux OS, Shell and SQL Scripting and either Java or OO development skills.

THE ROLE

While you'll sit within the greater Production Support team, the role has a more specific focus within this remit which is to further develop and expand a global monitoring solution using Nagios (IT Infra monitoring tool). To be an effective Production Support Engineer in this environment you will need to be an advanced user of UNIX/Linux operation systems and have the ability to write complex scripts from scratch across Bash (UNIX Shell), SQL and have some OO development skills (ideally Java) but due to the specific nature of this role it's essential that you also have expertise with Nagios.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

- 3-5 years of Technical Production/Application Support experience.
- Advanced UNIX/Linux Skills including BASH (Shell), and SQL Scripting (essential).
- Monitoring Automation experience with Nagios (essential)
- Object Oriented Development skills (ideally Java).
- Financial Services experience - Ideally supporting Funds/Custody Systems.
- Experience with the following highly regarded - Hiportfolio, Composer, OASYS.
- Database querying skills are critical. In-depth knowledge of SQL required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in Disaster Recovery planning and test execution.
- IT Diploma/Degree or industry relevant certifications.
