Production Manager

Main duties and responsibilities will include:
* Minimise depot-operating costs and maximise depot-operating efficiencies through effective depot resource planning and controlling of production overtime, while ensuring delivery of the Depot Daily Plan.
* Actively promote 5S, Lean maintenance philosophies and methodologies. Support Kaizen workshops in line with the Business Plans.
* Managing the Production Teams (or Workshops and Wheel Lathe Teams). Monitoring and controlling production on a shift-by-shift basis and ensuring that accountability of production is clearly defined and delegated including the handover of shifts.
* Identifying people requirements for budgeted fixed workload ensuring flexibility and high levels of productivity are achieved. Managing organisational change in order to optimise working practices and thus ensure a productive workload.
* Manage the site and all personnel present and ensure all production meets Safety and Quality requirements of internal standards, customer specifications. Monitoring working practices and environment to ensure people and facilities meet the mandatory and/or statutory requirements. Identifying training and other resource needs to facilitate production in the most effective way.

- Validation of Service Orders completed by team members and reporting and maintaining progress of work;
- Carry out 'Start of Shift Briefs' and quality including the completion of In-process and Final inspections, and adherence with Local Quality System;
- Safety adherence to local arrangements eg London Underground Rules and Regulations, Railway Group Standards, H&SAW and Metro Traincare Safety Programmes
- Service Planning & Releasing trains into service
- Cover Senior Production Manager, Team Member annual leave authorizations and Team Member training needs
- Discipline and managing for attendance 1st line. Team rosters and manning levels, time and attendance

Candidate requirements
* HNC in an Engineering field
* IT Skills - competent user of Personal Computer including office packages, email, Internet. Good communication, verbal and written, report writing and organisational skills
* Experience in fleet and/or maintenance operations and planning workloads effectively. Technical knowledge of Traction and Rolling stock
* Knowledge and understanding of network rail rules and regulations and understanding of Metro Trains business and its customer requirements
* An understanding of SAP and ability to use Microsoft Office packages. Knowledge of rail industry IT Systems SAP and good understanding of Metro business and its customers
* Management experience of large groups of staff
* Full UK or EU authorised driving license and willing to drive company vehicles

Preferred - Experience of maintenance management in the Railway Industry. Understanding of Railway Depot and Railway Industry Operations preferable.
Training requirements -
The post holder must be trained in manual handling techniques, fire safety. Training in the use of the companies communication systems, Intranet, MS Oulook. Training in the use of relevant Information Systems, SAP as the requirements of the post dictate.
