PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

3-6 MONTHS

Working with a leading Energy Provider, reporting to the Head of Residential Products you will lead the development, improvement and management of all activities related to domestic product development within the division. This includes being responsibility for a product suite generating c. £3.2bn annual turnover.

JOB PURPOSE

- You will be need to drive the business and customer requirements of the Residential product set, and ensure that these requirements are developed and delivered into a profitable product/service proposition. This will include leading the creation and development of innovative products that deliver competitive advantage to the client.
- Manage the strategic position of products and services, in terms of product mix, product life cycle and overall portfolio performance.
- Develop and implement innovative product solutions that encompass the evolving life cycle for SMART, Energy Services and the increasing need to develop product solutions through Digital and Social Media channels.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
ESSENTIAL

- Effective leadership skills to develop, manage, motivate and inspire a team to become industry leaders in product development activities. This encompasses having a broad range of strategic, business and leadership skills gained at a senior level, with the ability to lead and manage a complex operation within a dynamic marketplace while ensuring the long-term direction is not compromised.
- Highly developed influencing and relationship management skills
- The ability to understand complexity quickly and make decisions with confidence and clarity based on that understanding.
- The ability to influence a wide portfolio of stakeholders with differing interests. Requires a high level of knowledge, tact and diplomacy both in written and oral communication, in order to be seen as credible and argue the clients position with vigour and to achieve the preferred outcome.
- Strong understanding of the Residential marketplace and its commercial value
- Detailed understanding of the key components of customer value and how to leverage them accordingly
- Confidence in challenging convention based on sound rationale and judgement
- Change leader with experience of managing change initiatives
- Ability to prioritise work and deliver results whilst managing multiple stakeholders and competing demands within a rapidly changing environment
- Track record of innovative thinking and of bringing this to fruition
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Educated to degree level in marketing or a relevant numeric discipline

PREFERRED

- Line management experience in a product development or project management role
- Customer service/experience background
