Job title: Principal Technical Architect
Contract: 6 months.
Description
Accountability for the development and agreement of strategic technology requirements, evolution and roadmaps of access network ensuring best in class service delivery to end customers.
Key deliverables
Ownership of roadmaps and architectures for Radio Access Network (2G, 3G, LTE, Transport)
Liaison and engagement with parent operator Technology departments to ensure delivery of their overall business requirements
Access Network technology consultancy and engagement with strategic partners, vendors and industry stakeholders
Roles & Responsibilities
Chair the Strategy & Architecture Forum with Parent operators and reconciliation of any conflicting target architectures
Development of the technology roadmaps and architectures for all access network technologies (2G, 3G, LTE, Microwave, Fibre, OSS) in association and agreement with parent operators
Provide interface between project & Parent Technology Strategy departments
Drive the roadmaps and service delivery of suppliers to ensure high quality and cost efficient service to exceed customer expectations
Provide technology consultancy to the rest of business including input to senior management on industry trends, threats and opportunities
Deliver special projects on behalf of senior management as required
Provide high level service development and enhancement support to management team to support future business development opportunities and business case development
Provide input to the Finance function in support of preparation of budget planning
Support negotiation strategies, tendering and vendor management processes
Support management to ensure work practices are best in class, internal processes are continually enhanced to deliver high quality, cost effective services to meet or exceed customers' expectations
Proactively manage stakeholders to ensure the continuing success and reputation of the business
Foster a strong customer service ethic across rest of business to build the capability
Knowledge & Experience
At least 12 years knowledge and experience with mobile technology with at least 5 years at a senior level
2 years or more experience in a network sharing environment desirable
Experience in technology strategy, architecture and/or technology planning
Track record in successful complex technology project design and implementation
Behaviours & Competencies
Strong financial acumen and excellent understanding of the business needs and organisational awareness
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to apply strategic thinking and business acumen to solving complex technical problems
Keen interest in technology advancements and strong understanding of developments in the mobile industry and regulatory environment
Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills
Must be able to communicate effectively across multiple units/organisations including technology teams, internal and external customers up to an executive level
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to work closely with peers demonstrating leadership, drive and initiative
Ability to influence & win commitment from all levels of the business from engineer to executive
