POSITION: PRINCIPAL SAFETY ENIGNEER

JOB TYPE: 12 MONTH CONTRACT

LOCATION: BARROW IN FURNESS

RATE: NEGOTIABLE HOURLY RATE

THE CLIENT: WORLD LEADER IN DEFENCE MARKETS

THE JOB:

- Assist in the development of material selection processes with respect to fire safety and identification of fire testing requirements
- Provide support and advice to the wider engineering on the selection and optimisation ofmaterials with respect to fire safety
- Produce Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Case documentation
- Support to fire safety systems designers in terms of there selection and performance
- Undertake analysis to support the development of fire safety systems (prevention, detection and fire fighting)
- Organise and attend fire safety optioneering workshops
- Review of Technical Specifications and Suppliers responses
- Support and attend Decision Panels (relevant to fire safety)
- Support, attend and present fire safety work at team meetings
- Support, attend and present fire safety work at Fire Safety Working Groups and Safety Committees

SPECIFIC JOB CRITERIA/EXPERIENCE

- A good understanding of material fire testing standards
- Fire engineering experience (ideally in the Marine, Oil and Gas or Nuclear Industries)
- Fire safety report authoring experience
- Fire systems (detection and fire fighting) knowledge
- Effective communication skills
- Good management, co-ordination and organisational skills
- Skilled in the use of standard Microsoft packages and specialist packages as required.

- Fire safety materials selection process
- Materials fire testing policy
- Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Case Documentation
- Production of minutes/outputs from hazard identification activities/ALARP workshops
- Fire Safety Support at Technical Authority Safety Committee (TASC) and Project Safety Committee (PSC)
- Support to the Hazard Log and Hazard Data Management System
