Principal Project Leader

PRINCIPAL PROJECT LEADER - APMP, EVM, PROJECT MANAGEMENT, SCHEDULING

A Principal Project Leader with APMP, EVM, Project Management and Scheduling skills/experience is required to work on a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Surrey.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our client's team within the role of Principal Project Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for new product development through to delivery for a busy project. The candidates will have experience in and be responsible for procurement strategies, generating statements of work for either sole source/competitions and the delivery of these products in accordance to company processes (ie managing Key Performance Indicators of the supplier etc.).

OVERVIEW OF THE PRINCIPAL PROJECT LEADER CONTRACT ROLE

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing early product life cycle in accordance with shipbuilder maturity manage process.

It will include:

- Supporting bids, tenders and contracts, ensuring customer needs are met
- Ensuring aspects of the projects are fully defined to ensure customer requirements are achieved in accordance with business and commercial criteria
- Developing and maintaining project plans and schedules
- Developing estimates in support of bids, annual budgets and cost control
- Managing timescales, reports and key relationships with stakeholders
- Managing labour and material budgets for the product
- Managing risks and opportunities

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE PRINCIPAL PROJECT LEADER

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate Project Management experience within a complex environment in order to hit the ground running and must also be hard working, proactive and able to work well within a team.

- APMP Qualification
- Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline or experience to offset
- Strong Project Management experience
- Scheduling experience (ideally using MS Project)
- Experience of tracking projects through earned value
- Some experience of generating statements of work
- Configuration management experience

The role is based in Surrey - commutable from Hounslow, Twickenham, Kingston upon Thames, Mitcham, Croydon, Sutton, Epsom, Leatherhead, Weybridge and Staines with excellent access from London, Hampshire and Berkshire
