Baltimore Consulting is working with an organization in the West Midlands to recruit a Principal Engineer for a 1 - 2 year fixed-term contract within a hospital setting.

Within your function as Principal Engineer you will be required to provide specialist expertise and guidance and ensure all engineering maintenance and project works are undertaken in a professional and safe manner. You will also need to establish and administer working processes, planned and reactive maintenance regimes (Concept CAFM), health and safety management and provide support to the Project Director.

As Principal Engineer you will be required to deliver strategic guidance to both the Asset and Ops teams, Project Co and the Hospital Trust on issues associated with the technical functionality of the assets. The work will be performed for a large NHS Trust encompassing several sites. This contract offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to have a hands on approach in tackling operational management issues whilst also taking a strategic role assisting the Project Director.

You will need to have had previous operational management experience within a healthcare environment as this role includes active management of in house technical staff and operatives in conjunction with specialist suppliers. The aim is to deliver efficient and fully compliant assets & services within a high profile complex PFI healthcare facilities management commission.

Key measurables:

Develop and deliver policies and strategies for the management, maintenance and control of all M may advise external agencies.

Key Responsibilities/Competencies:

Lead in defining measures to ensure the works are conducted in accordance with all HS&E legislation and the Health Safety and Environmental Plans.
Ensure the business obtains maximum value from use of the IT systems, in particular Concept CAFM.
Advise the Project Director on a technical operational structure to suit the specific needs of the Account.
Actively manage the Suppliers to deliver best value into the Account.
Maintain commercial, technical, legal and insurance knowledge to support the Account
Early identification of business risks in projects and ensuring that risk management, risk registers and contingency are in place to manage and minimize risk.
Ensure each member of the team under their responsibility has a Line Manager and active Personal Development Plan.
Have measures and benchmarks in place to understand productivity and outputs from our engineering teams and suppliers.
BEng (Hons) degree with M&E content or equivalent demonstrable competence.
