Job description: The Senior Principal ESD engineer ensures the full process and way of working for the validation of intrinsic IC ESD-LU behavior and steers the department strategy for ESD service development.

The main task of the principal ESD engineer is to ensure perfect execution of the ESD LU service, in close cooperation with two technicians.

The engineer optimizes the service performance by KPI management, equipment and tool maintenance and calibration, technician training, and process and procedure definition and deployment.

The engineer closely liaises with the development projects and consults on the applied tests and methodology. In alignment with our BL partners new ESD LU services are identified and established.

The engineer supports the Team Leader with respect to decision making on equipment capacity and capability, strategic worldwide balancing of capacity, and outsourcing decisions.

The engineer participates and contributes to the ESD Methodology Council.

Operational (60% of job):

Latch-up test implementation

- Plan test requirements in advance with development team
- Implement hardware and software required for the test according to project plan
- Debug of test set-up liaising with product and test engineers

Customer Support

- Liaise with customers on requirement for ESD and Latch-up testing
- Support planning process
- Check that qualification requests are consistent with NXP and Industry standards
- Participate in failure analysis teams for Esd and Latch-up

ESD Support 40%

- Participate/Chair the NXP Electrical Overstress Working Group
- Maintain Internal standards and working procedures
- Support Calibration and maintenance of stress equipment
- Support planning for ESD lab development
- Provide technical support and development for ESD technicians.

Requirements:

Bachelor or Master degree (Physics, Electronics) Knowledge on semiconductor technology and or reliability, within the scope of ESD/LU mechanisms. Experience within the field of ESD: MM, HBM, CDM, and LU test methods, specifications, and equipment. Excellent communication skills (English), to align with and consult our BL partners in their development needs. Good negotiation skills, to interact with equipment and tool suppliers. Team worker, capable to support and instruct ESD/LU technicians Analytical thinker, problem solver. Good organizational skills and high level of independence. Creative and taking initiative. High drive for ESD LU service extension and improvement, result oriented. Good presentation and reporting skills.
