My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based the West Midlands, is looking to recruit a Powertrain HIL Development Engineer for their Powertrain division a long term contract basis.

Position:Powertrain HIL Development Engineer

Position Description:
Powertrain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) Development Engineer. This role is responsible for developing HiL development and verification properties, automation methodologies, plant model solutions, and overall HiL capability/processes to support Powertrain development and verification, primarily focussed on HiL solutions for transmission and driveline control modules. The Powertrain HiL group is responsible for delivering HiL capability across all powertrain and driveline variants, including Hybrid and Battery-Electric architectures, both for stand-alone simulators and HiL capability integrated into high voltage/dyno based test rigs.

Skills Required:
Understanding of HiL hardware/software architectures
Competent in Matlab/Simulink, (dSpace ControlDesk/AutomationDesk preferred)
Appreciation of vehicle networks, particularly CAN & CCP/XCP
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills & self confidence to drive resolution of complex integration issues
Demonstrable project management, team working skills
Ability to generate metrics/presentation material for management and programme review purposes.

Skills Preferred:
Competent in software languages used for automation - eg Python
Understanding of the technologies which come together in hybrid vehicles, particularly system architectures.

Experience Required:
Experience of working with or developing HIL test properties
Experience of working with Real Time electrical/electronic systems.

Experience Preferred:
Experience of working with/developing transmission and drive line control modules Experience of troubleshooting system issues on vehicle or on rig/HIL tools.

Education Required:
Degree qualified in a relevant field or equivalent industrial experience.

Additional Information:
Gaydon/Whitley Role will require regular inter-site travel therefore, it is essential that candidates hold a valid UK Drivers licence.
