Postdoctoral Research

Postdoctoral Research position is available to work with a group of scientists through the Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science (TCORS) at the Penn State College of Medicine campus. The Penn State TCORS is conducting collaborative and interdisciplinary research, including clinical and laboratory studies, to evaluate harm associated with tobacco smoking and in particular "modified risk tobacco products", or tobacco products that potentially reduce the risk of disease or exposure to tobacco toxicants. Postdoctoral fellow will work in the Biomarkers and Analytical Chemistry Core which provides critical research support to all of the TCORS projects. The position involves decision making in the areas of chemistry, analysis, laboratory capabilities, methodology, equipment maintenance, data quality, and work flow. Duties include method development and validation, implementation and troubleshooting of existing methods. Experience with instrumentation/equipment and software, such as gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS) and high performance liquid chromatography/mass spectroscopy (HPLC/MS) is required.
