Portfolio Manager - 6 months - Hinckley - Negotiable Daily Rate

A leading Energy and Utilities client of Hyphen is looking for a Portfolio Manager to join a large programme of Engineering work operating at their site in Hinckley, Leicestershire. The role is to over see a number of small projects within the Programme and report into the Programme Manager on how various aspects of these small Projects are performing.

Job Purpose

The Portfolio Manager will report to the No Dig Programme Manager, but will also build a strong relationship with the Portfolio Sponsor, who is the customer for delivery of the No Dig projects.

Working with the No Dig Team, through collaboration and engagement with the business functions, the Portfolio Manager will coordinate with Project Managers and Delivery Managers for more agile change. Ensure there are clear delivery plans, impact analysis including resource requirements and business readiness needs; quantified risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies; defined costs and benefits; and summarise all this in report formats defined by the No Dig governance process.

The role holder will also attend governance meetings to provide progress updates.

Experience Required

*Successful contribution to a significant business change project, using appropriate project management and business change tools and techniques to deliver the required outcome.
*Project Planning/Tracking - experience of identifying tasks and resource requirements, arranging them into a critical path, and monitoring progress to plan.
*Project Reporting - create concise reports that present the important information as visually as possible, allowing Senior Leadership to digest programme status quickly. Project Governance - participate in the governance meetings for the programme, preparing consolidated information from the individual project manager submissions. Also hold weekly project surgeries to review progress and escalate issues.
*Risk Management - consolidate individual project risk registers and produce reports to show risk profile.

Key Tasks:- 

*Collate all returns from Project Managers and compile consolidated reports. (Weekly and Monthly cycles.)
*From individual Projects compile a consolidated database that is kept live and used to monitor the health of the portfolio. This will include programme, resources, risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
*Responsible for the maintenance of the Portfolio Risk Register. You will ensure risks are reviewed, scoring checked, movement monitored.
*Ensure all benefits, costs to achieve, and resource requests are collated, reviewed, validated (with Finance) and monitored centrally
*Participate in governance meetings, produce reports and material for these meetings
*Hold regular Project Surgeries to develop a relationship with Project Sponsors and Project Managers, review progress, and support the Projects by escalating issues that cannot be resolved.
