POLICY AND PERFORMANCE OFFICER

£11.80 PER HOUR PAYE

PART TIME 22 HOURS PER WEEK (PREFERABLY MONDAY - FRIDAY)

CIVIC CENTRE, SOUTHEND ON SEA

TEMPORARY CONTRACT UNTIL 31ST MARCH 2014

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a member of the Council's Policy, Engagement and Communication Team, this position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Council.

Providing support in the development and production of performance and risk reports, service plans as well as, policy briefings for managers and Councillors, you will have a good understanding of performance and risk management along with sound verbal, written and presentational skills. A key early focus for the role will be to support a review of the Council's business continuity arrangements.

- Review and make recommendations on performance and equalities systems to ensure corporate needs are addressed
- Support the Senior Business Management Advisor on the production of the Monthly Performance Report and Corporate Risk Register as necessary
- Produce monthly reports to Corporate Services DMT on all aspects of performance and risk management and attend monthly meetings to present this information
- Support the Senior Business Management Advisor to ensure the Corporate BCP is kept up to date; leading on ensuring all directorate supporting plans are reviewed regularly
- Produce key communiqués to staff on business continuity procedures in conjunction with the Communications Advisor
- Manage the collation of quarterly performance monitoring returns from all VCS commissioned groups; working with the Engagement Assistant to provide advice to the Senior Community Relations Advisor on gaps or under performance against targets
- Advise the Partnerships and Engagement Manager on developing the governance framework for partnership arrangements

ABOUT YOU

You will need to have Relevant level 3, or equivalent, qualification or one year's equivalent experience with a good understanding of the structure and processes of local authorities and the environment they work in, we are looking for someone with an eye for detail as well as an enthusiasm for seeking improvement.

The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, competency in the use of Microsoft Office and an ability to think stragically and support organisational change.
