Plant Coordinator
Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months (Until December 2014)

Description
Alstom's first turnkey project in the UK, known as Nottingham Express Transit is extend the existing Nottingham Tram system with the construction of two new lines from the city centre terminus. The project also includes the operation and maintenance of the current system as well as the two new lines once they are built. In fulfilling this contract, Alstom will draw on its global expertise in the area of infrastructure and turnkey systems. This activity includes electrification of railway lines, track laying, modernisation of existing lines and electromechanical systems for new railway lines, tramways and metros. Alstom has already electrified more than 10,000 kilometres and has laid more than 2,000 kilometres of track.

Reporting directly to the Co-ordination Manager you will be responsible for co-ordinating the control, planned preventative maintenance, statutory examination & testing and documentation of the project plant and associated equipment in accordance with LOLER and PUWER.

Your main duties will be to: - * Liaise with and report to the Logistics Manager to arrange effective and efficient delivery of plantliaise with the company plant fitter and electrician and suppliers
* Ensure compliance with external legislation and both company and project procedures: control and responsibility for the planned preventative maintenance of all plant and equipment; statutory examination, testing and inspections of plant, lifting ancillaries and equipment
* Manage plantmanage defect reporting and records
* Liaise with main site compound stores supervisors to ensure lifting registers and colour coding of ancillaries are maintained and accurate records kept
* Promote health, safety and environmental awareness and responsibility in accordance with legislation and company procedures
* Ensure that all company plant and equipment is maintained in a safe and hazard free condition

Qualifications
Key skills and requirements for the role include:-

* Knowledge and understanding of construction plant & equipment management (essential)
* Traffic Office N/SVQ Level 3 (desirable)
* SSSTS or equivalent leadership training
* Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER requirements for the statutory examination and testing of lifting equipment and associated ancillaries
* Working knowledge of RRV, OTP and associated ancillaries, construction plant and equipment
* Construction and logistics knowledge of workplace hazards and associated risks
* Working knowledge of NRASWS and route planning
* Proven experience in a logistic role, ideally in the construction industry (essential)
* Working knowledge of NRASWS and route planning
* Experience in a supervisory role (preferred)
* ICT Skills
* Leadership, resilience, initiative and decision making skills
* Basic First Aid Certificate
* Full UK Driving License - (Clean)
