MECHANICAL STRESS ENGINEER
Role Profile
Supporting all pipe stress engineering and design flexibility elements of projects. Ensuring the engineering & design elements are being delivered in a safe, cost effective and timely manner and in compliance with the company's quality management system.
Duties
WHAT should the role-holder do to achieve the business goals of Mechanical Engineering Design Delivery, Growth and Customer Satisfaction:
Ensure Safety, Health & Environmental protection are inherent in the mechanical engineering design
Drive the CAESAR 2 stressing software package and provide cost effective and safe solutions to the engineering flexibility issues.
Provide appropriate mechanical engineering support & consultancy in piping flexibility / stressing issues.
Prepare mechanical data sheets related to flexibility i.e. support springs etc.
Assist with all matters referring to the Pressure System Codes & Directives (PED etc.)
Assist trainee engineers in their development in Pressure Systems design - CAESAR 2, B31.3, ASME etc.
Potential for undertaking some Project Engineering activities when stressing work is low.

Experience & Background
Ideally C. Eng., M I Mech E. but will consider experience and lesser professional qualification i.e. I Eng.
Experience of working within a project & mechanical design engineering environment - petro chem/ oil/gas/chemical - minimum of 20 years
Hands on experience of complete piping designs - minimum 15 years.
Has a detailed knowledge of CAESAR 2 stressing package and has used continuously for a minimum of 10 years.
Good technical knowledge on a variety of mechanical engineering piping materials.
Has a good understanding of the B31.3 and ASME codes.
Is familiar with the Pressure Equipment Directive.
