PHP Developer role - PHP, Apache, Git, MYSQL, Wordpress

My clients expanding it's PHP capabilities. They currently have 2 distinct teams and they are looking to merge them to form a centralised PHP development function. The newly formed will team will be responsible for a number of critical products and services that are part of the website including FastFT, Blogs, Rankings and their associated Content Management Systems. The candidate will join this team and help to maintain & enhance the services and also look for opportunities to upgrade and re-architect.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure solutions are robust and technically fit for purpose and in line with the technology strategy.
- Ensure solutions achieve the required quality standards through close collaboration with the QA team, including pairing with Test Developers when required.
- Ensure solutions delivered include synthetic testing and/or application monitoring where applicable.
- Work closely with Operations and Support teams to ensure delivery of efficient monitoring, alerting and runbooks.
- Collaborate with business analysts & product owners to contribute to the definition and understanding of incoming requirements.
- Own the development of functionality from accepting a story through to delivery into Production environments
- Work as part of an agile team implementing software development best practices.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

- Strong OO PHP background and demonstrable experience
- Comfortable with LAMP stack (command line, Apache, MySQL including large and complex record sets)
- Used to working with pull request workflows (VCS, Git)
- Wordpress: installation, maintenance, plugin creation, modification, management.
- Experience with Unit Tests and CI
- Experience with work in an Agile team

DESIRABLE:

- Javascript/AJAX and integration with Server Side
- Good understanding of SOA (REST, APIs, JSON)
- Familiarity with Jenkins
- Experience maintaining Composer packages used across multiple projects
- Experience of creating and running automated tests and developing test
- suites.
- Experience with BDD
- Familiarity with DevOps (Puppet, AWS, general Linux/RedHat)
