PHP Developer (Contract)

6 month rolling contact for a PHP Developer for leading online business.

Main duties & responsibilities:

- Contribute clean, secure and maintainable code to the product - ensuring that all code developed is adequately unit tested
- Contribute to continually improving the software development processes of the Web Development team
- Contribute to the evolution of the overall product/system architecture
- Optimising code for performance and scalability
- Troubleshooting issues in the production environment
- Prototyping and building components
- Estimating projects, working closely with technical and business teams at each stage of the development life cycle

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Excellent track record of estimating, delivering and maintaining highly transactional, feature-rich web products
- Experience working in an agile environment - we use short sprints and deploy to production
- Excellent experience in:
- Object Oriented programming
- PHP
- AJAX
- xHTML/HTML5
- XML
- JavaScript, jQuery
- CSS2/3
- MySQL
- Photoshop or Fireworks
- MVC Frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skill set
- Continuous integration experience
- Expert experience with unit/integration/acceptance testing frameworks
- Version control system eg GIT/Mercurial
