 Business Analyst

My Client has a 6 month FTC for a Business Analyst with some experience of Project Management. Your role will be to work with clients, internal or external, to understand their business needs and problems in order to identify and evaluate relevant solutions. Ensure designs are complete, consistent, in line with client strategy and standards and assure the realisation of business benefits, exploiting current capabilities and considering whole-life costs.
Experience of business rationalisation would be highly beneficial.

To convert agreed business requirements into systems requirements for development ensuring that interface requirements are understood and converted into transposable data items.

Responsibilities include.

Investigate business problems or situations and recommend the best way forward to support the business objectives.
Work with clients, internal or external, to understand their business needs and problems.
Ensure that business requirements are defined and addressed and relevant solutions are identified and evaluated in line with the clients strategy and standards
Production of context diagrams/mind maps/rich pictures - to investigate and document the range and extent of the issues involved with the business need or problem
Undertake stakeholder analysis/business perspective analysis
Undertake business activity modelling taking into consideration areas of activity relevant to the situation
Investigate the difference between the proposed system and the current situation
Examine possible process solutions and identify areas for change including typical business scenarios, their triggers, goals and alternative process flows
Analyse and document business requirements
Produce business cases including business, technical and financial feasibility assessment
Produce models such as data flow diagrams, logical data models and case diagrams
Undertake impact analysis on projects and any subsequent project change requests that are raised that have the potential to impact scope, requirements or solution.
Carry out benefits realisation reviews and assess the success or otherwise of projects meeting their targeted benefits as defined by their associated business case (amended by any relevant project change requests).
Participate in prototyping, test specification and user acceptance testing, business implementation planning and associated user training.
Management of Projects according to best practice.
As a member of the ICT Division you may be required from time to time to change roles within the Division in order to realign with Divisional demands. These role changes could take the form of a change of roles within a team; a change of roles via a temporary reassignment to another team within the same Divisional service area; or a change of roles to fulfil a delivery requirement of an ICT project.

You'll need a background in

Knowledge of Soft Systems Methodology, Business Process Re-engineering, and Requirements Engineering
Knowledge and experience of development methods and development languages would be desirable
Familiarity with requirements analysis and capture tools
Knowledge of all stages of the software engineering life cycle for development and the concepts and practices required to implement effective information systems
Facilitation of workshops and presenting to client/customers
Specialist knowledge and experience of a particular business domain, eg Finance, Supply Chain, B2B, Social Care, Education, Environmental Services
Prince2 project management experience.
