Payment Delivery Lead

The Role

- To lead, manage and coordinate the resource and processes to deliver and maintain software solutions within the Settlement component of the new Global Payments Platform.
- To ensure all projects/programmes of work in the Settlement area are appropriately assessed, designed, planned, resourced, scheduled and delivered in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Responsible for systems analysis, development and unit testing phases of projects assigned to this team.
- To Build and maintain relationships with business critical suppliers (internal/external) to ensure a value focus and timely delivery of projects

Key Accountabilities

- Technical Leadership - Lead the project team in the delivery of the design, development and testing (including Operations Analysis) components required, providing technical guidance where required, to ensure successful project delivery, to the quality required.
- Resource Management - Effective Management of team productivity, including weekly monitoring of capacity, and ensuring staff are fully utilised and all projects are staffed appropriately. Responsible for the allocation of work and management of the workload for the team.
- Quality Assurance - ensure that all appropriate procedures are applied by the team.
- Continuous improvement - ensure that software engineering processes (including tools and technical environments) are 'best' of breed, review and improve technology processes, to enable high quality but quicker project delivery for the business. Implement best practices within the Settlement area.

Experience:

- Developing high performance/availability batch file, transactional processing solutions who have a wide variety of design and delivery exposure and who will have progressed quickly in their career to date.
- Proven track record of successful project implementations in a technical environment involving one or multiple payment schemes mentioned below: ACH Clearing and Settlement schemes like SEPA, SWIFT, ISO 20022, CHAPS, BACS, Faster payments, VISA, JCB, Amex, Diners or country specific interfaces.
- Experience in offshore/onsite delivery models.
- Experience in leading a team of at least 20 technical staff through the whole project life cycle on many occasions
- Solid Line management experience managing a technical team in a full line Management capacity.
- Has worked on large programs of work and managed significant work packages within a major project.
- Genuine enthusiasm for excellence in design coupled with an appropriate level of delivery pragmatism.
- Knowledge of the global payments industry is desirable or a good understanding of payments transaction life cycle: Messaging flow through capture, routing, formatting/translation, transmission and auditing.
- Communicate effectively at all levels both within Technology, business and 3rd party service providers.
- Demonstrate an awareness of commercial and contractual issues.

Technical Knowledge:

- Experience of Java and J2EE and associated concepts including Object-Oriented and Service-Oriented design.
- Experience of JRules.
- Experience of relational databases such as Oracle 11g or IBM DB2
