Packaging Engineer

A world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives is currently seeking a Packaging Engineer with Pro-E, CAD and 3D electronic drafting experience in the East Peoria, IL area. This is a 1 year CONTRACT position, with the possibility of extension. Local candidates only, as there is no per diem available for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design and develop packaging and containerization for material from the source of supply to the point of use, leveraging the Corporate Container Program and Global Transportation processes
- This includes design and development of returnable and expendable shipping containers for both delivery to the customers and inbound to manufacturing and assembly facilities
- Develop packaging solutions to protect finished painted components

REQUIREMENTS

- BS Degree in Packaging, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or 3+ years of supply chain or packaging operations experience
- Pro-E, CAD, SolidWorks or other similar 3D electronic drafting experience
- Thorough knowledge of corporate shipping guidelines, quality, and inventory warehousing standards desired
- Prior automotive packaging engineering experience a plus
