Packaging Design Lead

A global pharmaceutical organisation based in Middlesex requires a Packaging Design Lead for a long term contract position.

JOB PURPOSE:

* Support sites and External Suppliers as they plan and implement packaging
* Lead the Pack Design stream to deliver against the Project plan
* Align strongly with other Streams within the Project, Pack Shared Service and packaging operational Design and testing groups

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pack Design:
* Complete pack platform designs for blisters, bottles (solid dose, suspensions and liquids),sachets and strip packs
* Work with operational design groups to define pack platform solutions where they don't exist (eg paper wraps), develop relevant pack design strategies or niche packaging solutions
* Document pack platform design standards and specifications - ensure integration with Equipment guidelines
* Agree supplier strategies to support standard pack designs

Testing:
* Manage the programme of push-through survival testing for all blister pack products
* Define and document standard test protocols for ongoing use

Implementation Support:
* Support sites and External Suppliers as they plan and implement packaging
* Be aware of & align to all packaging related activity across client's site
* Work closely with Engineering and Packaging Shared Service to manage ongoing requests and queries

General:
* Engage nominated stakeholders around stream progress & delivery
* Project Manage all Stream activities
* Manage the Stream members
* Adhere to project protocols

Experience/Knowledge/Technical Skills Required:

Basic
* University degree or technical equivalent
* 3 to 4 years experience in the Pharma and or OTC packaging (or similar regulated industries) related to material selection, pack design, pack testing and pack systems.
* Experience in project management with ability to manage global cross-functional project teams.
* Experience with senior stakeholder management

Preferred
* Knowledge of emerging packaging trends/innovations happening globally.
* Experience of working with External Suppliers
* Knowledge of packaging laws
* Good understanding of the market and competition in the area of Packaging.
* Application of new ideas & concepts to meet business needs.
