Oracle Production DBA - RAC & OLTP System Support (3868)

For a project at our banking client site in Zurich, we are looking for an experienced

ORACLE PRODUCTION DBA - RAC & OLTP SYSTEM SUPPORT (3868)

Our client's project team develops and integrates a newly distributed payments processing platform with Oracle RAC 11gr2 as primary data-Back End. We are looking for an experience candidate to bring in expertise to optimize the interaction with database clusters in development & operation.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

- Structured and practical approach to database health & performance analysis
- GOOD SKILLS IN ANY RELEVANT DATABASE TOOLS TO ANALYZE, TUNE AND OPERATE ORACLE DATABASES
- STRONG LINUX EXPERIENCE ("REDHAT") AS UNDERLYING RUNTIME PLATFORM: UNDERSTAND THE IMPACT OF THE ORACLE DATABASE PROCESSES ONTO THE UNDERLYING OS AND HARDWARE (EG, CPU SCHEDULING & CONSUMPTION, IO & NETWORK USAGE)
- In-depth experience with the nature of the clients application: OLTP, high throughput, high concurrency, understand RAC specifics (application does load-balancing in RAC).
- This originates ideally from a combination of:
- Designated experience as production DBA or production support for OLTP systems with Oracle RAC
- Designated experience in working with application development projects providing consultancy in database-relevant design (throughput & other non-functional aspects)
- CERTIFIED IN EITHER "ORACLE DATABASE 11G PERFORMANCE TUNING CERTIFIED EXPERT" OR "ORACLE DATABASE 11G ADMINISTRATOR CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL"

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help to maintain the configuration of the application databases (data objects, database-level, system-specific parameters)

Together with an infrastructure DBA:

- Drive production deployments for database-specific activities
- Provide production support (performance & throughput issues)

Accompany non-functional and functional testing activities:

- Understand and explain the impact of the application onto the database
- Identify, analyze generic or specific performance bottlenecks in the database and help to get them resolved
- Propose changes to database configuration where necessary
- Accompany development activities:
- Contribute to the application design from a database perspective
- Development of more complex data migrations & cleanup tasks (one-time or automated regular tasks)
- Help to streamline and enhance the database script quality (DDL, DML) in terms of guidance and reviews
- Share knowledge with developers & testing experts to broaden awareness for good and bad habits
