Oracle DBA Job

SR. DBA needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Vienna, VA.

TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Oracle Database Administration
- OEM, Statspack, AWS
- HPUX/AIX

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Creating databases in HPUX/AIX environment
- Monitoring database performance during application performance testing and recommending database changes
- Backing up databases from one environment and restoring them in other database environments
- Upgrading oracle databases from oracle 10g to 11g
- You will be responsible for backups, recovery, performance tuning and optimization on oracle

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Must be highly motivated, job engaged, Team player
- Should have good verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complex technical issues and relate to development requirements and needs.
- Physical modelling experience is needed - preferably in Erwin modelling tool
- Experience with Batch Jobs scheduling
- Candidates should have experience in large-scale environments
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Windows XP or higher version, Office, PowerPoint, Access, Visio and Project
- Strong change management experience for implementing database changes
- Experience promoting database objects from one environment to other and maintaining change logs
- Experience with Creating databases in HPUX/AIX environment
- High level experience with writing Korn Shell Scripts
- Very good understanding of how memory, CPU, Disks work in a UNIX environment
- Experience with OEM, Statspack, and AWR
- Experience of execution plans and how to use them to optimize/improve query costs and create new indexes
- Understanding of RMAN, Data Guard
- Experience with how oracle security works
- Oracle export/import experience.

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Demonstrable experience with SQL Server Database design and development including creating stored procedures and functions using T-SQL
- Thorough understanding of relational database design and concepts
- Demonstrable experience of Installation, migration, upgrade and maintenance of multiple SQL Server Databases
- Demonstrable experience with backups, recovery, performance tuning and optimization
- Understanding and some working knowledge of SSIS/DTS, SSAS, SSRS and common ETL practices
- Understanding execution plans and how to use them to optimize/improve query costs and create indexes
- High level understanding of SQL Server database mirroring, replication, and log shipping
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2005/2008 operating system
