Working within the Opto-Mechanical systems team and with optical, electronic and Systems Engineers to develop working designs for optical systems.
Opto-mechanical system design from initial concept to detailed final design using 3D CAD modelling tools.

Analysis Tasks
Undertake structural and thermal FE analysis at component and system level.
Perform FE dynamic analysis of Opto-mechanical systems.
Perform lens thermo-elastic alignment analysis
Develop the companies understanding of structural response and thermal design.
Build finite element models of mechanical components and optical instrument

General Tasks
Maintain a design/analysis log, summarising each step in the design/analysis, development & test process
Documenting and implementing design changes using Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
Validating numerical analyses using benchmarks with analytical solutions
Reviewing proposed designs ensuring that they are structurally "fit for purpose"
Supporting vibration testing and instrumentation of test units
Undertaking some mechanical and optical assembly work.
