Optical Network Engineer Job

OPTICAL NETWORK ENGINEER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's Client located in Englewood, Colorado

TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Experienced writing and executing test cases and test plans
- Experienced technical writing skills sufficient to produce white papers, test cases, test plans, design documents, and technical diagrams.
- Hands-on networking experience with Optical and Transport Technologies, such as SONET, DWDM, ROADM, and PON.
- In-depth experience/knowledge with Ethernet and OTN (G.709, and FEC)

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Establishes and maintains network performance by building net configurations and connections; troubleshooting network problems.
- Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
- Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE.

- Experience with different modulation formats, such as NRZ, RZ, DPSK, and DQPSK
- Experience with network and optical test equipment, such as Ixia, Spirent, and EXFO.
- Experience with Standards Development Organizations such as IETF, IEEE, and ITU-T
- Learns and adapts to new technologies and methodologies. Must be able to think outside-the-box and exercise innovation.
- Experience with desktop operating systems and applications (Windows, MAC, Unix/Linux)
- Experience testing and analysing optical characteristics, such as non-linear and linear effects, chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion, optical budgets, OSNR, and BER
