Operations Technician

Looking for a challenging role? If so, then Magnox Ltd (Berkeley) is seeking operations support for the retrieval of nuclear waste from temporary storage in the Chute Silo to long term storage arrangements.

This will include, but is not limited to; operation and maintenance of retrievals equipment in accordance with statutory regulations, company procedures and maintenance schedules.

Deliverables
Control remote operation equipment to retrieve waste
Undertake completion of tasks as detailed in the Plant Item Operating Instructions (PIOIs)
Undertake general housekeeping and cleanliness
Collect and package waste
Understand the existing plant operating status, expected plant operating requirements and associated risks
Conduct general inspections of the plant
Ensure positive identification of hazards and risk assessments around the site and for work activities.. Complete essential maintenance of installed plant and equipment.
Provides technical support to current and future project design and implementation.

Key Skills
Technical qualification eg City and Guilds, BTEC, NVQ (NQF Level 2) or relevant experience including Rigging/slinging and crane operations.
Remote operations experience.
Experience in a technical discipline in an industrial environment
Relevant knowledge of industrial safety standards and procedures
Knowledge of nuclear safety, radiological protection and nuclear emergency procedures. R2/C2, R3/C3 experience beneficial.
