Operations Engineer Hyper-V and Scvmm

THIS IS A CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY WITH THE NORTHWEST\'S SIGNATURE SOFTWARE CORPORATION FOR AN OPERATIONS ENGINEER. This candidate will maintain and fix the Quality and Compliance team's tools and services supporting engineers across the org.

REQUIREMENTS

- Support for infrastructure tools and studio specific applications.
- Communicate issues/resolutions effectively via email, phone calls.
- Draft architectural diagrams of server/application deployments.
- Comply with all security standards in both system architecture and as an individual user.
- Configuration, testing and troubleshooting of Internet Information Server (IIS) and SQL.
- Ensure escalated support and operational issues are resolved in a timely manner, tracked according to standards, and escalated to other groups as appropriate.
- Administer network performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Support SharePoint and replication services.
- Support and participate in all Distributed File Systems and DFS-Replication fabrics.
- Design/present modifications and improvements to procedures/environments with the objective of improving quality and ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Participate in deployments and process support for Patch Management to the Development and Production environments.
- Assist the Customer Engagement team with planning resource requirements in advance of production releases, and ensure correct usability and functionality before releases via staged testing.
- Define and negotiate customer monitoring management packs, and provide tailored instruction and support documentation for each service that is delivered.
- Act as liaison, conduit, and support lifeline between the customer and their environment in all levels of the software and system deployment/update processes.
- Monitor application and services to ensure SLA's are met.
- Help maintain server infrastructure in a self-managed lab.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years Virtualization (Hyper-V and SCVMM 2010 and 2012)
- 1+ year SCOM 2007 and 2012
- 3+ years Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2
- 2+ years SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2
- Mirroring, Clustering, Backups, Installation and Configuration, T-SQL
- 2+ years IIS
- Web site support, log parsing, HTTP errors, Application Pools
- 1+ Scripting experience in PowerShell and/or VBScript
- Ability to quickly absorb and apply new concepts required
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and context switch, self-motivated with the drive and passion to work independently and collaboratively without supervision, set expectations and be dependable
- Willingness to solve problems outside his/her core area

- Working knowledge and experience troubleshooting application and platform faults
- Experience with common instrumentation (performance counters, event logs, wmi, etc.) to detect and resolve incidents

- Ability to identify and troubleshoot basic network and DNS problems using simple commands (ping, trace, nslookup)
