Operations Analyst (Linux/Unix) Job

OPERATIONS ANALYST (LINUX/UNIX) needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in NEW ORLEANS, LA

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Works within the framework of established operating procedures to implement new or updated technologies and processes in various infrastructure environments within the businesses. Focuses on both hardware and operating system aspects of all infrastructure environments in order to maintain and deliver optimum performance, compliance, service availability and operational excellence.
- Manage internal and external suppliers and vendors in delivery and deployment of IT solutions ensuring they are on budget and on time
- Coordinate activities with requirements that span internal applications and the Compute team including: identification of data that needs to be backed up and collaborating with other teams in the transition of build to run activities, project manage various infrastructure initiatives that have operational impact.
- Assist in driving operational excellence through all environments data operations and data center initiatives working in conjunction with other teams and strategic partners/vendors.
- Validate and ensure projects are aligned and follow IT strategy, PMO and architecture standards
- Development & maintenance of project documentation ensuring materials are complete and current
- Lead analysis to solve complex production processing and business-related issues
- Ensures all OS and hardware environments are patched and updated to the latest acceptable versions for both OS & firmware.
- Mitigate risk to application and infrastructure environments by thoroughly assessing the impact of system changes/releases

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's degree with minimum five (5+) years of IT experience and leadership or equivalent work experience
- Working knowledge of Solaris 10 and RHEL/OEL 5.x & 6.x
- Experience managing large infrastructure related upgrade & deployment projects across a global, highly matrixed organization
- Experience with virtualization technologies using VMware ESX and Citrix Xen App server
- Knowledge of Storage technologies NAS & SAN
- Knowledge of Backup Solutions (Backup Exec, NetBackup)
- Knowledge of Network Based technologies
- Working knowledge of a broad range of current IT security platforms and technologies

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Three to five (3-5) years of experience in an operational or ITIL incident management role
- SOx or other regulatory audit knowledge and remediation experience
- Experience in supporting IT operations within a mission critical environment
- Ability to provide 24/7 on-call support and "hands-on" on-site support when necessary
- Experience with systems running in Unix (Solaris/Linux) environments
- Strong vendor management experience
- Excellent organizational, problem solving, communication, prioritization and facilitation skills
- Must be a self-starter, detail oriented and able to multi-task
