We are currently recruiting for doctors to work on a 1 year fixed term contract with a large government body working in Occupational Health and Disability Analysis. With an attractive salary, the role only has a 9 to 5 commitment, on either a full time (Monday to Friday) or part time basis.
As the UK's biggest public service department it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to over 22 million claimants and customers. These roles are being recruited to support their on going program of face to face consultations to support Work Capability Assessments (WCA). The Work Capability Assessment (WCA) is used to determine eligibility for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). It is based on the principle that a health condition or impairment should not automatically be regarded as a barrier to work.
The role will involve assessing people with physical and / or mental health conditions; history taking, observation and ability to perform a relevant examination, consideration of evidence and completing a report. Paper based assessments involve communication with GPs / hospital specialists or other professional colleagues, considering evidence and completing reports.
Job role - Key tasks
•Assessing individuals against prescribed criteria;
•Conducting face-to-face consultations;
•Gathering and consideration of evidence from GPs/ Hospitals and other medical professionals;
•Critically evaluate evidence and use logical reasoning to provide accurate evidence based advice;
•Completion of reports, including advice, to the authority.

Job role - key responsibilities and accountabilities
•Ability to work autonomously;
•Ensure that professional practice standards and best practice are maintained in all areas of work;
•Adhere to customer and claimant confidentiality;
•Have appropriate knowledge of the clinical aspects and likely functional effects of a wide range of medical conditions;
•Must comply with training and reflect on constructive feedback towards demonstrating competence within the role;
•Interpersonal and communication skills that include the ability to interact sensitively and appropriately, with particular regard for an individual's cultural background and issues specific to disabled people.
•Produce succinct, accurate reports in plain English, fully justifying conclusions from evidence gathered, and dealing appropriately with apparent conflicts of evidence and fluctuating conditions.

These significant roles are being presented as fixed-term contracts of no less than 12 months, with the view to extend the time frames and with opportunities for progression into training and development leads.
