Nuclear Chemistry Technician

DUTIES:
Performing special tests utilizing special techniques in the areas of analytical chemistry and radiochemistry, assisting in the planning and execution of experimental techniques.
Designing, assembling, testing, initially calibrating, and performing non-standard tests on new equipment
Limited overall responsibility on a daily basis of the following areas: Radiochemistry activities, chemistry instrument calibration, chemical equipment operation
Operating and monitoring chemistry treatment and process systems, recommending changes and assisting in maintenance, troubleshooting and repair practices
Providing instruction and training of employees in work related activities where qualified and assigned
Preparation, maintenance, and distribution of records in connection with the work
Conducting testing of station equipment and systems
Reporting abnormal or unusual conditions observed or encountered; such as abnormal operating conditions, safety conditions, and violations of security procedures using the corrective action program as required
Performing similar or less skilled duties as assigned
Working with employees in higher classifications and performing other duties in accordance with the Job Manual

SKILLS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have demonstrated ability in the preparation of report and graphs
Must have thorough working knowledge of safety rules, analysis techniques, technical specifications, health safety practices, chemical reactions involved in raw and makeup water treatment, nuclear reactor and steam cycle chemistry, principles of nuclear chemistry, and other procedures used in the station.
Must have thorough working knowledge of principles of operation of the test instruments and equipment, quantitative and qualitative procedures, technical specifications, quality control/assurance, and other procedures used in the station.
Must satisfactorily progress in and complete the prescribed training courses or qualifications required by the Company, or any regulatory agency.
Must have the ability to receive, interpret, and pass on orders and instructions in a manner that will maintain harmony and safety and obtain cooperation and satisfactory work result from employees assigned to the work.
