NOC Support Associate Job

NOC SUPPORT ASSOCIATE needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in RESTON, VA.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Basic Linux (or any Unix variant) command line interface
- Knowledge of Shell Scripts and SQL commands
- Experience in network operations

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Responsible for monitoring, trouble-shooting and other operational duties as assigned
- Network trouble-shooting, proactive monitoring, and internal/external communication including interaction with telecommunications carriers to ensure timely resolution
- Providing some Level 1 & 2 support and completing some provisioning activities
- Provide first level troubleshooting, escalate/follow up the incident until it is resolved
- Works in a 24 x 7 operations center in support of mission-critical environment, including issue resolution and provisioning as assigned.
- Provide clear, timely status updates to customers on issues related to the monitored network
- Perform customary ticket management functions to ensure proper organization of the SUI ticket queue
- Work effectively with internal and external organizations as necessary to expedite repair efforts
- Retrieve referral status updates and request escalations as necessary from external Carriers
- Follow all new and existing SUI processes and standard operation procedures
- Actively identifies project related issues
- Provides feedback regarding project goals
- Makes routine decisions associated with issue resolution, provisioning, and notification activities.
- Works closely with Production Operations Engineering management and senior technical engineers to maintain a mutual understanding of the deliverables for each assigned project or task
- Decisions are made within established policies and standard practices
- Interfaces frequently with operators on technical issues regarding the status of platform applications and network

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Basic knowledge and usage of Linux (or any Unix variant) command line interface
- Basic knowledge and usage of Shell Scripts and SQL commands
- Minimum one (1) year experience in network operations, infrastructure support, or 1st or 2nd line support experience
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills with ability to interpret complex topics
- Knowledge of telecommunications, networking and Internet essentials would be an advantage
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to find answers to technical problems through a variety of mediums
- New Diploma qualified in IT, Telecom or Computer Science Engineering may apply or equivalent work experience
