REFERENCE

This is a chance to use your web or print writing skills in a high profile Government organisation, ensuring our customers have the right information, in the right form and at the right time.

The Rural Payments Agency helps the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to encourage a thriving farming and food sector and strong rural communities. We deliver Common Agricultural Policy payments in England and livestock identification and traceability services across Britain. In total, we manage over 40 schemes, paying farmers and traders more than £2billion every year.

We need experienced writers to focus on EITHER a new online application system for Common Agricultural Payments OR the guidance for new CAP schemes. Both roles will involve writing customer-focused, accessible content ranging from emails and letters to leaflets and web pages across a full spectrum of digital and print channels. You'll interpret briefs, work closely with key stakeholders to ensure we give customers accurate information and plan and priorities your work to meet demanding deadlines. Rapidly acquiring an understanding of the new CAP schemes will be vital to your success.

It follows that we're looking for confident, outgoing people with good communication, time management and relationship building skills. Your experience of writing for the web and transactional systems will be backed by a sound grasp of GDS and GOV.UK principles. You'll also be capable of challenging briefs where necessary to create an outstanding customer experience.

In return we offer generous civil service benefits and excellent development opportunities.
