Networking Engineer

Our client is looking for a Networking Engineer in Richmond, VA. The contract period is 11/1/2013 - 5/1/2014.

Qualifications:

- Requires strong knowledge of modern telecommunications systems and operations, as well as state-of-the-art internetworking technologies, LAN-networked PC based systems and multi-protocol LAN/WAN networks.
- Also requires strong knowledge of networking protocols and implementations, including specific expertise with Cisco environments.
- Knowledge of and experience with other network connected hardware and software components such as load balancers, extended content verification, wide-area application services, LDAPs, content distribution, and network management systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of routing protocols (eg BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and their implementation. - Strong knowledge of network environmental software interfaces, hardware installation, testing and certification activities.
- Understanding of problem, change, performance, and service level management, from both an operations as well as a requirements perspective.
- Thorough knowledge of network system software, network protocols, network test tools and other network technology [Internet, SONET, MPLS, Private IP, Frame Relay, etc.).
- Strong problem determination, identification, isolation, and resolution skills.
- Competent knowledge of the client's network and business operations.
- Effective interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, superior analytical abilities, and be able to negotiate, make good decisions, and have good organizational skills.
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience equal to 8 - 10 years.

Responsibilities:

- Performs lead day-to-day network engineering activities supporting the client's networks and other national network services.
- Provides strong network technical support to the client, System, and financial institutions in design, testing, implementation and operation of complex network solutions and services.

Participates in or may lead projects where network services are needed.
